After receiving an MFA from the University of California at Los Angeles, Maureen Hyde taught herself how to illustrate books. As she and her husband were raising their son on a small family farm, she worked with children’s picture books, covers for historical and classic novels. She decided to make a transition to fine art in l995, and began attending classes with the Florence Academy of Art in Florence, Italy.  In a few years, she began to teach. She enjoys a studio within the academy where she is still working as an instructor doing various workshops, and teaching drawing and painting during the scholastic year.  She enjoys working in several genre: still life, portrait, narrative figurative and landscapes.
